MetaSource takes a multi-disciplinary approach to being an environmentally-sensitive Green company in Recycling, Energy Consumption, and Facility Maintenance.
Recycling
MetaSource recycles paper, plastic, and aluminum used by its employees in all of its facilities. Where MetaSource makes a real impact in recycling is in the tremendous volume of paper we handle for clients every year. Most clients have MetaSource store their paper documents for 30 to 90 days after processing. At the end of the retention period, MetaSource shreds the paper and recycles 100% of the shredded paper.
Energy Consumption
MetaSource’s primary use of energy is in its IT functions and HVAC systems. MetaSource primarily uses Dell's Energy Smart servers that can reduce power consumption by as much as 95%.. MetaSource virtual machines to increase the utilization of our physical servers, and we have implemented thin clients in many areas of the business including all of our contact center stations. Using such techniques, MetaSource has reduced its energy consumption per employee significantly in the last 4 years. HVAC systems within each production area are on timers to conserve energy.
Facility Maintenance
Greening the facility maintenance side of MetaSource’s business includes use of energy efficient lighting, heating, and air conditioning as well as use of less harmful cleaning products, pest control products, and building products where practical. Our bathrooms are equipped with hi-speed dryers rather than paper and we use washable towels for cleaning where possible.
MetaSource is a Green company because it makes good business sense and it’s the right thing to do for our world. We believe being a Green company is not a destination but a journey, and as we identify smart new ways to reduce our impact on the world, we will continue to grow as a Green company.
