Captiva 7.7 Now Available

OpenText

OpenText Captiva 7.7 is now available. The new release focuses on expanding the ease of use across the enterprise and enhancing its ability to be fully integrated into an enterprise information management strategy.

For those new to Captiva, this advanced document capture software excels at capturing and processing documents from a variety of sources, including scanners, fax servers, email servers, file systems, web services, and via RESTful web services. Captiva is a scalable solution that has the ability to use multiple servers to manage resources, meaning it can process large amounts of data from across your enterprise. It also handles multiple languages and system locale settings.

New Features

With Captiva 7.7, OpenText continues to focus on building intelligent products that meet enterprise capture needs with four main enhancements, detailed below.

Web Capture

Captiva’s Web Client can now be used to execute tasks assigned from a central Captiva Server. The remote or distributed client was developed based on feedback from many users who require an easy-to-use, intuitive, and ergonomic user interface in a web client.

Upgraded Automation

In this release, both OpenText Character Recognition and OpenText Document Recognition have been integrated into Captiva. This expands the tools available to identify and sort batches of documents. Improved handwriting recognition reduces manual input.

Integrated & Scalable

Captiva 7.7 features an improved REST-based integration to the OpenText Content Server platform, as well as an enhanced API available to third-party ISVs for integration. Captiva 7.7 also includes CMIS output for out-of-the-box integration with content management platforms that support the industry standard.

Centralized Administration

Integral in order to support the various processes, locations, and documents in a way consistent with enterprise governance policies. Permissions and batch selections for the Web Client users can be managed through the central server application and pushed out to the web client. Along with central permissions, enhanced web security allows for distributed capture to speed deployment and expansion across multiple geographic sites from a central management location.
